Uganda

Uganda – The Pearl of Africa. A rising, but still scantly known tourist destination in East Africa.

Featuring the source of the river Nile in Jinja, vast coffee, tea, and banana plantations, and spectacular green, lush sceneries, this is a country to behold. Since my first visit on a business trip in 2007, I have lost count of the time I’ve been back. All of my trips have been to the East and the centre of the country, so I am yet to explore the western and northern parts, that are actually supposed to be the most spectacular!

In addition to its natural beauty, Uganda is also home to the Nyege Nyege Festival – one of Africa’s greatest annual musical events. While Nyege Nyege 2019 was on fire, the organizers were forced to take a 3-year break because of Covid. They are now back with a vengeance! While I missed out on the 2023 edition, you will find me there in 2024!

What I didn’t miss out on in 2023, was a tour of Mount Elgon and the spectacular Sipi Valley!
